Garlic 2.0

The Second Annual Edible Vancouver Garlic Festival at Limbert Mountain Farm takes place this Saturday, August 20. We can already smell it!

Here’s what to expect:

  • Tons of amazing garlic, multiple varieties. It will be sold by the pound, in 1-pound nets and bundles that are designed for hanging and keeping away escaped actors from Twilight.
  • Garlic products such as garlic powder, salt, blends, dips, sauces, and pestos.
  • Garlic books: recipes and growing tips
  • Garlic gadgets: twist & cutters
  • Garlic sausage! and other pork products
  • Garlic cheese! and other Farm House cheeses
  • Garlic honey! and other honeys
  • Garlic mustards! and other mustards
  • Also garlic-free pies, wines, and breads.

Watch cooking demos all day. Learn to prepare, chop, roast garlic and more. Learn about growing garlic. Snack on garlic & pesto pizza, roasted corn with herb & garlic butter, garlic popcorn, and lavender lemonade.

Festival is 11am-5pm, Saturday August 20, and admission is free. Head for Agassiz and follow your nose. 5493 Limbert Road, Agassiz. Phone (604) 796-2619. Here’s a map. Please share transportation, be prepared to walk across somewhat hilly terrain from parking to farm (100m or so), bring cash if you plan to purchase any goodies; and as we are trying to keep waste to a minimum it would be fabulous if you could bring your own plate, glass, fork, napkin, etc. See you there.

  1. Have any suggestions on growing bigger garlic cloves?

First, start with seed garlic from a large-cloved variety. Then plant it in good soil with lots of compost. Here’s a link to an article about growing garlic from our Autumn 2011 issue. http://onlinedigeditions.com/publication/?i=81086&p=21

    best of luck!
