Wine of the Month: September #1

To celebrate the VQA’s 20th anniversary this month, we’ll be featuring a BC VQA wine every week. The first: Mission Hill’s Five Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 2008.

I noticed just a teensy trace of effervescence when this poured, and oh, I like that bit of liveliness on the palate. It’s quite fruity, with a fair bit of citrus zing, and it went down a treat on a hot, sultry evening. Actually it was quite shocking; every time I glanced down at my glass it appeared to be nearly empty.

It was super-tasty all by itself, but paired beautifully with the salty tang of the Farm House goat feta and sweet peppers in our Greek salad too. This bottle was a sample, courtesy of Mission Hill (thank you, Mission Hill!) but I loved it and will definitely be buying it again. Soon. And often.
